If only I could run...

At the very beginning of last semester, I went to an information meeting for Pre-nursing students. I walked in about five minutes late so I did not catch the first part of the first presentation, so I was not quite sure what it was about. A man was a the front of the room talking about an opportunity for Nursing students to have their schooling completely paid for, to travel around the country, and alot of other things that I have forgotten about now, but that really appealed to me at the time. Eventually I realized that he was talking about the ROTC. My mind immediatly went from. "Wow! That sounds amazing" to "Oh my goodness! You can't be in the army!!" haha He spoke for a really long time though, and the more he talked, the more I wanted to do it!!

I was all hyped up about it until he started talking about how a requirment for this program was an early morning routine involving lots and lots of running, push ups, and all this athletic-y stuff I have never been any good at. The truth is that I HATE to run and I really couldn't handle that every morning. The reality of my dream of being a nurse in the military left immediatly.

I watched Pearl Harbor a few nights ago with Dawn and some girls from our dorm, and once again the desire to be a nurse in the military returned. I don't know what exactly is so appealing to me...Maybe it is the intensity and the excitement. I would be in the middle of all the action and the things that I would be doing would really matter. I loved watching the nurses in the movie take charge, spring into action when there was an emergency, run around the hospital in a frantic scene trying to find supplies, and sticking their fingers in a man's artery in order to save his life! It is so so exciting!!

In spite of my desire for it, the simple fact remains that I cannot run, so I won't be going to the Middle East to stick my finger in anyone's artery. But I definately want to work somewhere where there is excitement and surprise...somewhere that causes my adrenaline to rush! I am thinking about the Emergency Room in a hospital, or maybe helecopter stuff. They have special training for nurses who are in helecopters in really serious situation.

Hmmmm... Can't wait :)

i can give personal testamony to this hoplessly sad truth that sarah lacks the ability to run. I have seen her try and it is rather funny. But is there anyone else that i would like to play tag, get chased by bears, or cops with NO!

    Sarah's Life Lesson:
